Crisis Outreach Service for Seniors program now covering Ward 19

To Whom It May Concern,

We recognize that sometimes City Councilors’ offices may be the first stop for senior residents who may not be doing well in the community because of mental health issues or cognitive changes and wanted to reach out in regards to the services we provide.

The Crisis Outreach Service for Seniors (COSS) program, a multi agency partnership, provides on-call mobile crisis intervention and outreach service, 7 days a week (9am to 5pm), to seniors who have mental health and/or addictions issues.

This population includes frail, marginalized and at risk seniors, many of who are homeless or under housed, living in poverty, and/or are new immigrants.

This includes Mobile Crisis Intervention and short term crisis counseling, short term intensive case management, assessment, stabilization and primary care by a nurse practitioner.

If you feel there is a member of the community who is seeking support or family members and/or neighbours who are concerned about a senior in your community please don’t hesitate to contact us to see if we might be able to provide support.

If you would like more information please feel free to contact me.  Additionally, we can provide your office with pamphlets and contact information to be handed out to community members.

Thank you
