There are several positions available for interns to assist with a tree inventory of Trinity Bellwoods Neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario. This is a great opportunity, especially for those interested in urban forestry, and a great way to master tree and shrub identification.
Internship positions are for a minimum of 3 months (June – August) on either a part-time or full-time basis.
Interns will be involved with several tasks, including: data collection (Identifying tree species, size, health, and location); data input in Excel; and community outreach. Mandatory Neighbourwoods tree inventory training will be provided on Friday, May 30, May 31 and June 1 at University of Toronto and costs for this training will be covered (a value of $50).
This position will require travel by foot through the neighbourhood and requires ability to work outdoors. Applicants should be Aged 18+, with good communication skills, experience using Microsoft Excel, and should have an interest in urban forestry or related fields. Experience with tree identification is an asset, but not required.
For more information about the tree inventory, please visit http://neighbourwoods.org/neighbourwoods-neighbourhoods.html.
To apply, please send your resume to TrinityBellwoodsUrbanForestry@gmail.com along with a short letter outlining your interest in the position.
