Today City Council voted 35-0 in support of a conditional settlement with the applicant for the development proposed at 944-952 Queen Street West. The settlement includes important changes to the application that, while not addressing all of our concerns, secures many gains and improvements for the community in this development.
I appreciate that aspects of this settlement do not meet everyone’s expectations, including my own. I made several requests to the developer for additional compromises which they unfortunately rejected. City planners and lawyers advised that Council settle before the OMB because, based on their experience on these matters, we can only lose what we have gained and we are very unlikely to make any further gains.
I have attached a letter on the approved conditional settlement and a link to City Planning’s supplementary report on this application.
