The Toronto Star is reporting that the outdoor pool at Stanley Park and the wading pool at Fred Hamilton Playground are two of those slated to be closed under terms of Mayor Rob Ford’s 2012 budget cuts.
Stanley Park and Fred Hamilton are both in Councillor Mike Layton’s Ward 19, Trinity-Spadina.
“The city just put a bunch of money into Stanley Park pool. It’s the park that serves all the condos on King St.,” he said, predicting a fight from residents.
The wading pool is well used, Layton said, adding that if it is targeted he will see if there are other funds available to keep it open.
